Basketball Recap: Columbia Piles Up the Points Against Leon

It was a proper cat-fight when Columbia duked it out withLeon on Saturday. The Columbia Tigers simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Leon Lions 53-26. The Tigers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 21 points or more this season.

Columbia's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JOLENA GARDNER, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. GARDNER has been hot recently, having also posted two or more blocks the last four times she's played. ERIEL BAKER was another key player, going 5 for 6 on her way to 10 points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Columbia now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Leon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

When Columbia and Leon next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Columbia will try to stop Rickards' four-game winning streak when the meet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Columbia is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.4 points per game this season. Similarly, Leon will challenge Madison County and their four-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
