Recap: Archbishop Molloy Stanners vs. Holy Cross Knights
This season hasn't been kind to the Archbishop Molloy Stanners, who are still winless after their fourth contest. They lost to Holy Cross on the road by a decisive 56-39 margin on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Archbishop Molloy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 321st, while Holy Cross is ranked 99th).
Mona Okorie continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Holy Cross, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 24 rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Nafi Balde, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Archbishop Molloy's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-4. As for Holy Cross, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2.
Archbishop Molloy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nazareth at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024. Hopefully Nazareth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. Holy Cross will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Caravel at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
