Softball Game Preview: Springfield vs. Riverton Hawks

Springfield will head out to challenge the Riverton Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with seven consecutive losses for Springfield and nine for Riverton.

Springfield came up short against Normal University on Thursday, falling 17-2. That's two games in a row now that Springfield has lost by exactly 15 runs.

Springfield saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lanie Dumonceaux, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double.

Meanwhile, Riverton scored first but ultimately less than Tri-City in their matchup on Wednesday. They lost 13-1 to the Tornado.

Brooklyn Lanham was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple and one RBI. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

Riverton's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Springfield, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.

Riverton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Springfield has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game.
