It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Wilson Prep had no problem doing just that on Friday. They put the hurt on the KIPP P Pride with a sharp 42-16 victory. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Travon Usher was his usual excellent self, rushing for 203 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 27 yards and one TD. What's more, he racked up 177.1 passer rating, the most he's had since back in October of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Wilson Prep was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 334 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 184 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

Wilson Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Tyquan Whitaker led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Ethan Nelson also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Wilson Prep is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 0-5 otherwise. Nelson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Wilson Prep is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 48.3 points over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, KIPP P fell to 11-1.

Coming up, Wilson Prep will square off against Northside - Pinetown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 31 points in their last ten contests. KIPP P does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
