Basketball Recap: Cut Bank Comes Up Short

Cut Bank lost against Fairfield back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Cut Bank Wolves lost 64-44 to the Fairfield Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Wolves can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Montana basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while the Eagles are ranked sixth).

Deron Lear was his usual excellent self, on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals for Fairfield. The matchup was Lear's third in a row with at least 20 points. J. Porter Hatch was another key player, en route to 15 points and three blocks.

Cut Bank has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season. Fairfield's win bumped their record up to 19-1.

Cut Bank does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fairfield, they have already played their next game, a 66-42 victory against Conrad on the 22nd.
