Softball Recap: Los Alamos' Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to 13

Los Alamos waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with 12 straight wins... but they left with 13. Everything went their way against the Taos Tigers as they made off with a 14-7 win. Considering the Hilltoppers have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Malaya Haynes looked comfortable as she pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Los Alamos got a massive performance out of Aaliyah Chavez, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Chavez has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Abagail Deherrera, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Los Alamos was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .444 or higher in six consecutive games.

Los Alamos pushed their record up to 18-5-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Taos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-14 record this season.

Los Alamos does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Taos, they will welcome Espanola Valley at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
