Baseball Game Preview: McIntosh Chiefs vs. Banneker Trojans

For the second straight game, McIntosh will face off against Banneker. The Chiefs will be playing at home against the Trojans at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (McIntosh has three straight wins, Banneker has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

McIntosh is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Banneker get on the board and left with a 21-0 victory on Wednesday. Considering the Chiefs have won eight contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Will Downing and Mason Morningstar made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Downing pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Morningstar tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Downing also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McIntosh is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-10 otherwise. At bat, Downing fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-2, while Morningstar scored a run while going 1-for-1. Those two home runs gave Downing a new career-high.

In other pitching news, Daniel Slusher looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Noah Ashley, who scored a run while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (three). Nico Maldonado was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.

McIntosh was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Banneker's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for McIntosh, their win bumped their record up to 10-12.
