Meanwhile, it was close, but on Wednesday New Plymouth sidestepped Payette for an 8-6 win.
Blayk Cockerum was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Cockerum was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and a double.
In other batting news, Ashton Robinson was excellent, going 2-for-4 with a triple, a stolen base, and a run. Another player making a difference was Kaden Hawker, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Vale's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for New Plymouth, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.
