Softball Recap: Arthur-Okaw Christian Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Arthur-Okaw Christian unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost 13-6 to the Sullivan Redskins on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Conquering Riders of the 6-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2024.

Avery Herschberger was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Lilie Herschberger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

The victory was the third in a row for Sullivan, bringing their record up to 3-2.

Looking ahead, Arthur-Okaw Christian is headed away from home for the first time to take on Central A & M at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sullivan, they will challenge Mattoon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
