Softball Recap: Shelby Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses at Home

There's no place like home for Shelby, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Thursday. They walked away with a 17-13 win over the Mapleton Mounties on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Whippets considering their one-run performance the contest before.

Karlie Walp and Braylee Sturts did most of the damage at the plate: Walp went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and two RBI, while Sturts went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Walp has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kendall Bowman, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Shelby lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Shelby's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-10. As for Mapleton, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-13 record this season.

Shelby will take on Clear Fork at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mapleton does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
