Baseball Game Preview: St. Petersburg Green Devils vs. Boca Ciega Pirates

The St. Petersburg Green Devils will challenge the Boca Ciega Pirates at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for St. Petersburg and six for Boca Ciega.

Last Monday, St. Petersburg came up short against Clearwater Central Catholic and fell 8-3.

St. Petersburg saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dean Slator, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That stolen base marked the first that Slator snagged this season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Boca Ciega's offense. They came up short against IMG Academy Silver on Tuesday, falling 10-0. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Pirates haven't been shut out since back in March.

St. Petersburg's loss dropped their record down to 7-13-1. As for Boca Ciega, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-19.

St. Petersburg came out on top in a nail-biter against Boca Ciega in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, sneaking past 8-7. Do the Green Devils have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Pirates turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
