Baseball Recap: Perry Wins High-Profile Game Against Queen Creek

On Thursday, Perry faced Queen Creek in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Perry Pumas were the clear victor by a 16-6 margin over the Queen Creek Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Pumas, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Dane Jochumsen looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. The dominant performance gave him a new career-low in hits.

On the hitting side, Andrew Hover was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with six RBI and two runs. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Rowen Noreus was another key player, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs.

Perry always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .537. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Queen Creek only posted an OBP of .393.

Perry has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-2 record this season. Queen Creek's defeat ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 6-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Perry will challenge Saguaro at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Queen Creek, they will square off against Higley at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
