Football Recap: Cornerstone Christian Wins High-Profile Game Against Alabama School for the Deaf

Cornerstone Christian faced Alabama School for the Deaf in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Silent Warriors 55-32. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won three matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.

Jess Nelson had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 144 yards and four scores, while also throwing for 75 yards and one touchdown. He didn't just play on offense: he also made four total tackles and defended four passes. Colby Harrison was another key player, gaining 152 total yards and two touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cornerstone Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 280 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards in five consecutive games.

Cornerstone Christian has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.4 points over those games. As for Alabama School for the Deaf, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.

As of now, neither Cornerstone Christian nor the Silent Warriors have any future games scheduled.
