South Pointe and Westside squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but South Pointe had to settle for second. They lost 35-14 to the Westside Rams. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Stallions, who until this matchup were averaging 13.36 points allowed.

Despite the loss, South Pointe still got an impressive performance from Mason Pickett-Hicks, who rushed for 239 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Pickett-Hicks' rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his fifth straight game with at least 117 rushing yards.

Even if they lost, South Pointe's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Aakil Brown. He also set a new season high mark in total tackles with nine. Kj Burg was another major factor on D, making 15 total tackles.

Westside had a senior duo take command as Sharode Richardson rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns and Cutter Woods threw for 164 yards and a touchdown. With that strong performance, Richardson is now averaging an impressive 101 rushing yards per game. A healthy portion of Woods' aerial production (81 yards to be exact) went to Armoni Weaver, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

South Pointe's loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. As for Westside, they pushed their record up to 13-0 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.

South Pointe does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Westside, they will head out on the road to face off against South Florence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Westside's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last 12 contests.
