Softball Preview: Gulf Buccaneers vs. Central Bears
The Gulf Buccaneers will head out on the road to challenge the Central Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Gulf is leaving town to face Central after disappointing their home crowd in their season opener. Gulf fell just short of Wiregrass Ranch by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it six in a row.
Jeovanna Carter put in work while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits. Carter was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Carter wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Alana Delaney, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 16 runs the game before, Central was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to Nature Coast Tech. The loss was the Bears' first of the season.
