Basketball Recap: Bridgeton Bulldogs vs. Wildwood Catholic Crusaders
Bridgeton lost against Wildwood Catholic back in February of 2022 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Bridgeton Bulldogs took a 64-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildwood Catholic Crusaders. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 269th, while the Crusaders are ranked 97th).
Despite the loss, Bridgeton still got an impressive performance from Jameell Purnell, who went 8 of 17 en route to 21 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals. That was a full 41.2% of Bridgeton's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Kyion Gray was another key player, putting up nine points.
Bridgeton's defeat was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Wildwood Catholic, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-7.
Looking ahead, Bridgeton and Pleasantville will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Wildwood Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
