Baseball Game Preview: Pickerington Central Tigers vs. Lancaster Golden Gales

The Pickerington Central Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Lancaster Golden Gales at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Wednesday, Pickerington Central earned a 10-6 win over Canal Winchester. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Tigers.

Cael Kogge made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dillon Powers, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Meanwhile, Lancaster strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Groveport-Madison with a sharp 10-0 victory. Give the Golden Gales' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Pickerington Central's record is now 4-1. As for Lancaster, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Pickerington Central couldn't quite get it done against Lancaster in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 3-0. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
