Softball Recap: Sumner Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Sumner ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Bonney Lake Panthers 10-9. Winning may never get old, but the Spartans sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Riley Meyers was incredible, going 4-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Abby Dean also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Sumner kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive matches.

Sumner's record now sits at 7-2. As for Bonney Lake, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sumner will host Graham-Kapowsin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Bonney Lake, they will welcome Olympia at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bears have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
