Basketball Recap: Middleton Takes a Loss

It was a proper cat-fight when Middleton faced off against McNairy Central on Saturday. The Middleton Tigers were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 35-34 to the McNairy Central Bobcats. The contest marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

When it comes to explaining why Middleton lost, don't look at Tamarcus Smith. Despite the final result, he posted 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals. That's the most boards Smith has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Raymond Wiggins, who had seven points.

Middleton has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-5 record this season. As for McNairy Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Middleton will head out to square off against West Carroll at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing isn't great for West Carroll: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Middleton has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. As for McNairy Central, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 59-35 loss against Crockett County on the 7th.
