Football Game Preview: Thunderbird Titans vs. Deer Valley Skyhawks

The Thunderbird Titans will face off against the Deer Valley Skyhawks at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Thunderbird's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

Last Thursday, Thunderbird needed a bit of extra time to put away Greenway. They pulled ahead with a 43-42 photo finish over the Demons. The Titans haven't had any issues with the Demons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Thunderbird found their leader in sophomore Daryl Little, who picked up 231 receiving yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 45 yards and one score. Little's longest reception was for an incredible 82 yards. JP Stewart was another key player, throwing for 248 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.8 yards per attempt.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 31 points the game before, Deer Valley was a bit more limited in their game last Thursday. They came up short against Arcadia, falling 28-3. The loss was the Skyhawks' first of the season.

Thunderbird's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Deer Valley, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Saturday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Thunderbird has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 166.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Deer Valley, though, as they've been averaging only 75.2 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
