Softball Recap: King George Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

King George came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Mechanicsville Mustangs. Considering the Foxes have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Kayla Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bella Intihar, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

King George pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Mechanicsville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

King George has already played their next match, an 8-1 victory against Culpeper County on the 29th. As for Mechanicsville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-6 win against Freeman on the 30th.
