Basketball Game Preview: Payson Lions vs. Hurricane Tigers + Official Tickets

Two dominant guards in Emmy Hales and Laynee Walker are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Payson Lions will head out to face off against the Hurricane Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Payson and four for Hurricane.

Payson came into this matchup off a tough 26-point loss on Thursday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of American Fork by a score of 38-36 on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Lions have suffered since January 28th.

Hales was Payson's leading scorer, having posted 16 points.

Meanwhile, Hurricane lost to Desert Hills on the road by a 53-36 margin on Tuesday.

Payson's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Hurricane, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Payson beat Hurricane 58-49 in their previous meeting back in December of 2018. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Tigers' Madi Hirschi, who posted 19 points and five rebounds. Now that she won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for the Lions to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
