Softball Recap: Mellen Takes a Loss

Mellen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Thorp Cardinals, falling 26-7. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Granite Diggers of the 11-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Mellen's loss dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Thorp, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Mellen will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hurley at 4:30 p.m. on April 8. This will be Mellen's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. We've got a battle between Cardinals coming up.
