Basketball Recap: Morristown Takes Down Tri in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Morristown rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They snuck past the Tri Titans with a 57-53 win. The victory was familiar territory for the Yellow Jackets who have now won seven contests in a row.

Morristown's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nevaeh Sanders led the charge by going 9 of 20 on her way to 27 points along with seven boards and three steals. Sanders' evening made it six games in a row in which she has scored at least 18 points. Emma Nelson was another key player, going 5 for 10 en route to 15 points in addition to three steals and three blocks.

Despite the loss, Tri still got an impressive performance from Jillian Chew, who posted 20 points along with eight steals and six rebounds. Chew has become a key player for Tri: the team is 12-2 when she posts at least five steals, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Lia Bohn, who earned 14 points and three steals.

Morristown's record now sits at 15-7. As for Tri, their loss dropped their record down to 16-8.

Morristown has already played their next matchup, a 63-60 defeat against North Decatur on the 7th. Tri does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
