Basketball Recap: 14 Straight Home Wins for Union Grove

Union Grove waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Badger Badgers by a score of 66-57. Given the Broncos' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Badgers are ranked 119th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Union Grove's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Camryn Smith, who went 7 of 12 en route to 16 points and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Lamers, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Union Grove smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive matchups.

Union Grove's win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1. As for Badger, they moved to 9-5 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Union Grove will face off against Waterford at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Badger, they will square off against Beloit Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
