Basketball Recap: West Davidson Drops Season-High Score on East Rowan

West Davidson scored the most points they've had this season on Wednesday, but it wasn't enough. They fell to the East Rowan Mustangs 69-64. The Dragons were probably out for revenge after losing 50-31 to them when the teams met back in December of 2021, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why West Davidson lost, don't look at Wyatt Cooper. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. With that strong performance, Cooper is now averaging an impressive 16.2 points per game. Another player making a difference was Motlei Stovall, who went 7 of 15 en route to 15 points.

Even though they lost, West Davidson was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

West Davidson has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for East Rowan, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

West Davidson will head out to face off against Salisbury at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Rowan, they will square off against Carson at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
