Basketball Recap: Long County Piles Up the Points Against Johnson

Long County's contest on Friday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. They blew past the Johnson Atomsmashers 71-44. The Blue Tide have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matchups by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Long County to victory were Jy'Son Mallard and Kelvin Hayes Jr.. Mallard went 8-for-13 to rack up 23 points, while Hayes Jr. almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Mallard is now averaging an impressive 16.8 points per game. Jamere Martin was another key player, putting up ten points and three steals.

The win made it two in a row for Long County and bumps their season record up to 3-1. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.5 points over those games. As for Johnson, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games.
