Baseball Game Preview: Forrest Rockets vs. Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles

The Forrest Rockets will square off against the Shelbyville Central Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Forrest comes in on three and Shelbyville Central on ten.

Last Tuesday, Forrest narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Community 4-2.

Luke Allen made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Branham Haynes, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville Central earned a 7-2 win over Columbia Central on Tuesday.

Like Forrest, Shelbyville Central also got a great game from a two-way player: William Bobo. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Bobo has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other batting news, Stephen Bobo was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Caden Peacock was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Shelbyville Central hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia Central struck out ten times.

Forrest's victory bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Shelbyville Central, their win bumped their record up to 20-5.
