Basketball Recap: Beech Grove Takes a Loss

If Beech Grove was riding high fresh off their 72-31 takedown of Indianapolis Cardinal Ritter last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Beech Grove Hornets came up short against the Triton Central Tigers on Thursday, falling 52-31. The loss continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost seven in a row.

When it comes to explaining why Beech Grove lost, don't look at Emma Micks. Despite the final result, she went 5 for 8 on her way to 14 points and three steals.

It was another big night for Maryrose Felling, who posted 21 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals for Triton Central. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Burbrink, who put up 14 points and seven boards.

Beech Grove's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 6-1 and their overall record down to 11-11. As for Triton Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won 12 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season.

When Beech Grove and Triton Central next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Beech Grove will challenge Indian Creek and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Triton Central will try to stop Heritage Christian's three-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
