Recap: Pottsville Crimson Tide vs. Blue Mountain Eagles
The Pottsville Crimson Tide lost to the Blue Mountain Eagles back in March of 2023, but the Pottsville Crimson Tide didn't allow the Blue Mountain Eagles the same satisfaction on Monday. Pottsville came out on top against Blue Mountain by a score of 61-51. The win was all the more spectacular given Pottsville's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 246th, while Blue Mountain is ranked 70th).
Pottsville's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Watkins, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Watkins scored 15 or more points. Letrel Montone was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
The win makes it two in a row for Pottsville and bumps their season record up to 8-5. As for Blue Mountain, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-1.
Pottsville will head out on the road to face off against North Schuylkill at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Blue Mountain, they will be playing at home against Tamaqua at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
