Basketball Recap: Caleb Lapka's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Calvin Christian over the Cambridge School

After flying high against Orange Glen on Tuesday, Calvin Christian came back down to earth. The Calvin Christian Crusaders took a 72-58 bruising from The Cambridge School Griffins on Wednesday. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Griffins apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Calvin Christian's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Caleb Lapka, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 13 boards. The dominant performance gave Lapka a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Caleb Brouwer, who posted nine points and four steals.

Calvin Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for The Cambridge School, their record is now 9-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Calvin Christian will welcome Rock Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvin Christian is facing Rock Academy at the right time seeing as Rock Academy is stuck on a 19-game losing streak. As for The Cambridge School, they will be playing at home against O'Farrell Charter at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
