Basketball Game Preview: Millbrook Pioneers vs. Brentsville District Tigers

The Millbrook Pioneers will face off against the Brentsville District Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Millbrook is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Last Friday, Millbrook was able to grind out a solid win over Sherando, taking the game 45-34. Given the Pioneers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Warriors are ranked 252nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Millbrook relied on the efforts of Grace Moreland, who went 5 for 6 on her way to 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals, and Jaliah Jackson, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 17 boards. Those 17 rebounds gave Jackson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jane Moreland, who posted six points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Brentsville District unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They came up short against Handley, falling 53-30. The game marked the Tigers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Millbrook has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Brentsville District, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.
