Softball Preview: Inchelium Hornets vs. Republic Tigers
Inchelium is 10-0 against Republic since March of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success in Tuesday's first game. The Inchelium Hornets will be playing at home against the Republic Tigers at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Inchelium put another one in the bag in Saturday's second game to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Selkirk as Inchelium made off with a 41-1 victory. Inchelium's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Meanwhile, Republic entered their tilt with Wellpinit with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Redskins 21-2.
Aleena Maycumber was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Maycumber was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Republic got a massive performance out of Joceyln Watson, who went 3-for-3 with a home run, five stolen bases, and four runs. Another player making a difference was Ember Berndt, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Inchelium's win was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. Those victories were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs per game. As for Republic, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3-1.
