Softball Preview: Ida Baker Bulldogs vs. Mariner Tritons

The Ida Baker Bulldogs will stay at home for another game and welcome the Mariner Tritons at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ida Baker is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.

Ida Baker can now show off three landslide victories after their most recent game on Thursday. Everything went their way against Cypress Lake as Ida Baker made off with a 16-1 victory. The win was just what Ida Baker needed coming off of an 8-1 loss in their prior matchup.

Kaiden Nealeigh was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). Nealeigh has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive pitching appearances. Nealeigh was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Ida Baker got a massive performance out of Makayla Nieves, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and a triple. Natalie Hernandez was another key contributor, going 2-for-2 with three RBI, a triple, and a run.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 20 runs the game before, Mariner was a bit more limited in their match on Tuesday. They wound up on the wrong side of a rough 10-1 walloping at the hands of Riverdale.

Mica Barraza made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, a double, and an RBI.

The victory got Ida Baker back to even at 5-5. As for Mariner, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-5.
