Softball Recap: Williamsburg Yellow Jackets vs. Model Patriots
If Williamsburg was riding high off their 16-1 takedown of Jellico on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets fell 10-6 to the Model Patriots on Saturday. Williamsburg was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Model apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
Chloe Barman made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a double. The team also got some help courtesy of Haylee Baird, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
On Model's side, Kendall Maggard made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Maggard was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Alana Newbill was incredible, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Rylli Hunt, who went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Williamsburg has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Model, they pushed their record up to 6-4 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road.
