Volleyball Recap: Spring Grove's Undefeated Season over After Four Games + How To Watch

After flying high against Schaeffer Academy last Thursday, Spring Grove came back down to earth. The Lions fell just short of the Lanesboro Burros by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Burros apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

Spring Grove took a 2-1 lead headed into the fourth set, but sadly they lost the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 25-14, 18-25, 25-22, 15-9.

Hailey Normann paced Spring Grove's offense, picking up 17 kills. Normann got some help from Claire Sherburne and her 36 assists. Sherburne also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Izabel Kaufmann, racking up three apiece.

Having lost for the first time this season, Spring Grove fell to 3-1. As for Lanesboro, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Spring Grove is set to challenge their familiar foe Grand Meadow at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Lions have won five straight at home dating back to last season, while the Superlarks won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Lanesboro will take on rival Schaeffer Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
