Sodus came out on top against Clyde-Savannah on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run third inning. The Spartans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over the Golden Eagles. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Golden Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Hayleigh Hall was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Sodus let Jenna Martinez and Jordyn Graham run wild. Martinez got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs, while Graham went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Genevieve VanDerbroek also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Sodus now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Clyde-Savannah, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-7.
