Recap: Muncie Central Bearcats vs. Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos
The Muncie Central Bearcats were the 51-36 winner over the Lafayette Jefferson Bronchos when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Muncie Central suffered a tough 65-40 defeat at the hands of Lafayette Jefferson on Friday. While losing is never fun, Muncie Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while Lafayette Jefferson is ranked 46th).
Despite the loss, Muncie Central still got an impressive performance from Xaviya Cook, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Landen Wells, who scored five points.
Muncie Central bumped their record down to 5-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Muncie Central won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Noblesville at 7:30 p.m. on January 6th. Noblesville will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak. As for Lafayette Jefferson, they will head out on the road to face off against Anderson at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Anderson comes in on three and Lafayette Jefferson on seven.
