Basketball Game Preview: Mount Calm vs. Coolidge Yellowjackets

Mount Calm hasn't had much luck against Coolidge recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Mount Calm will face off against the Coolidge Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m.

Mount Calm is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Slocum on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Mount Calm was beaten by Slocum 74-17. The match marked Mount Calm's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Meanwhile, Coolidge entered their tilt with Slocum on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They had just enough and edged the Mustangs out 56-53. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Yellowjackets have posted since December 5, 2024.

Coolidge is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Mount Calm, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.

Mount Calm was dealt a bruising 79-43 defeat at the hands of Coolidge when the teams last played back in February of 2020. Can Mount Calm avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
