Elgin has gone a perfect 9-0 against Upper Scioto Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Comets will square off against the Rams at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Elgin was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Waynesfield-Goshen on Monday. The Comets never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The game marked the Comets' most dominant victory of the season.

Colton Ware made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jacob Walker was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Peyton Zempter also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Elgin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Upper Scioto Valley not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 17, 2025 (when they won 22-9). They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over Temple Christian. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Rams' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Like Elgin, Upper Scioto Valley also got a great game from a two-way player: Caiden Lowery. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Lowery has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jesse Prater was excellent, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Ryan Roberts, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Elgin is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-4-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. Upper Scioto Valley's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7.
Elgin got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Upper Scioto Valley by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
