Baseball Recap: Franklin Triumphs

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Franklin brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They were the clear victors by an 18-2 margin over the Rainier Beach Vikings on Monday. The Quakers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 10, 2025 (when they won 22-2).

Max Greene made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Greene was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, Horace Appleyard was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Elias Escamilla was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

Franklin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .632. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Franklin's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Rainier Beach, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Franklin will challenge Seattle Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Cardinals will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Quakers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Rainier Beach, they will face off against West Seattle at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
