Volleyball Recap: Washburn Gets the Win

Washburn hadn't done well against Cherokee recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Pirates walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Chiefs. This was a revenge game for the Pirates: when they faced off against the Chiefs on Thursday, they had to take a 3-1 defeat.

Washburn's offense was headlined by Taylie Proffitt and Abigail Epperson, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Kylie Ferguson and her 14 assists. Epperson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Washburn's record now sits at 2-3. As for Cherokee, their loss dropped their record down to 3-1.

Washburn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-1 win against Knoxville T on the 23rd. As for Cherokee, they will be playing at home against Happy Valley at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
