Basketball Recap: Scottsbluff Has No Trouble Against Sidney

After losing to Sidney the last time they met, Scottsbluff decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Scottsbluff Bearcats were the clear victor by a 70-48 margin over the Sidney Red Raiders on Saturday. The Bearcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matches by 21 points or more this season.

Nate Kelley was his usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine assists. Another player making a difference was Tre Boswell, who shot 4-for-7 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds.

Scottsbluff smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Scottsbluff's win bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Sidney, they moved to 13-5 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Scottsbluff and Sidney should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Nebraska Rankings. Scottsbluff (ranked 21st) will meet Alliance (ranked 93rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Scottsbluff is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.8 points per game this season. Similarly, Sidney will take on Gering at 7:00 p.m. on Friday up 106 places (39 vs. 145).
