Football Game Preview: Red Lion Lions vs. Northeastern Bobcats

Red Lion is 8-2 against Northeastern since October of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lions will take on the Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Red Lion has given up an average of 38.9 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Red Lion is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Friday. They were outmatched by Central York and fell 56-18. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 319th, while the Panthers are ranked 16th).

Despite their loss, Red Lion saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Octavius Thompson, who picked up 56 receiving yards and two touchdowns, was perhaps the best of all. Thompson didn't just play on offense: he also picked up a sack and made four total tackles. Mason Platts was another key player, having thrown for 278 yards and three touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Northeastern fell victim to South Western and their airtight defense on Friday. They were dealt a 48-0 defeat at the hands of the Mustangs. The Bobcats haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Red Lion's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Northeastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Everything came up roses for Red Lion against Northeastern in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 46-6 win. In that contest, the Lions amassed a halftime lead of 46-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
