Caprock is a perfect 5-0 against Lubbock since October of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Longhorns will challenge the Westerners at 7:00 p.m. Caprock will be strutting in after a win while Lubbock will be coming in after a defeat.

Caprock took a loss when they played away from home two weeks ago, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 36-26 victory over Coronado. Considering the Longhorns' offense had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Ernesto Alvarado had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 301 yards and two scores while picking up 13.7 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 59 yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Caprock was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 400 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

Caprock didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Canon Polivoda and Alhosan Sheriff. Sheriff got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Lubbock was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a blow against Abilene, falling 73-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Westerners were not able to get on the board.

Lubbock's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Caprock, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5.

Everything came up roses for Caprock against Lubbock in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 52-22 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Longhorns since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
