Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Stanley

Stanley had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Winnfield on Monday. The Panthers never let the Tigers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won 15 matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Lexi Greene was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Stanley let Abbi Ford and Baleigh Landry run wild. Ford went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Landry went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That triple marked the first that Landry hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Kass, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Stanley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.

The win (which was Stanley's third in a row) raised their record to 22-6. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Winnfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-16-1 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stanley will host Minden at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Winnfield, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Zwolle at 5:30 p.m.
