Softball Game Preview: Perry Hall Gators vs. Eastern Tech Mavericks

Perry Hall hasn't had much luck against Eastern Tech recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Gators will challenge the Mavericks at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Perry Hall took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Catonsville by a score of 8-3. The Gators haven't had any issues with the Comets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Savannah Carl made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shalimar Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Amber Deems was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Perry Hall was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Eastern Tech waltzed into their match on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Bulls with a sharp 9-3 victory. Considering the Mavericks have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Perry Hall's record now sits at 7-8. As for Eastern Tech, their record is now 7-4.
