Basketball Game Preview: Dunedin Falcons vs. Indian Rocks Christian Eagles

Two dominant guards in Kennedy Brooks and Malia Stevens are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. It'll be Battle of the Birds when the Dunedin Falcons challenge the Indian Rocks Christian Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday... The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dunedin has four straight wins, Indian Rocks Christian has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Dunedin didn't have too much trouble with Osceola as they won 48-33.

Meanwhile, Indian Rocks Christian lost to Clearwater Central Catholic at home by a 59-45 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 243rd, while the Marauders are ranked 113th).

Dunedin will need focus on slowing down Stevens, one of several Indian Rocks Christian players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 14 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Caruso, who earned ten points and six rebounds.

Dunedin's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.3 points per game. As for Indian Rocks Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Dunedin came up short against Indian Rocks Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 42-37. Can Dunedin avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
