Basketball Game Preview: Frankenmuth Eagles vs. Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets

Frankenmuth is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Detroit Country Day is on a four-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Frankenmuth Eagles will host the Detroit Country Day Yellowjackets at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Frankenmuth knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Detroit Country Day likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Frankenmuth got the win against Alma by a conclusive 56-32. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 24 points or more this season.

Frankenmuth had a senior duo take command as Clare Conzelmann posted 20 points and five steals and Izzy Bernthal went 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals Bernthal has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyson Peterson, who had seven points.

Frankenmuth smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Detroit Country Day was able to grind out a solid win over West Bloomfield on Friday, taking the game 66-58. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 11th, while the Lakers are ranked 126th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Detroit Country Day's victory bumped their record up to 10-0. As for Frankenmuth, their win bumped their record up to 7-2.
