Basketball Recap: Valley Gets Big Win over Higher-Ranked Northwest

Valley won the last time they faced Northwest and things went their way on Friday too. The Valley Tigers walked away with a 62-49 victory over the Northwest Wolves. The win was all the more spectacular given the Tigers' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Wolves are ranked 17th).

The victory made it two in a row for Valley and bumps their season record up to 6-3. As for Northwest, the defeat snapped their winning streak at six games and leaves them with a 9-3 record.

Valley will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Roosevelt at 7:45 p.m. on February 18th. As for Northwest, they will face off against Bellevue West at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Bellevue West knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully Northwest likes a good challenge.
